Fordhook Giant has a dark glossy green leaf colour. Fordhook Giant takes 58 days to mature after seedling transplant. Stems are broad and white in colour. The leaves are deeply savoyed, and the leaf margins are rippled. This swiss chard variety is the most commonly used variety in South Africa. In South Africa, Swiss chard is commonly referred to as spinach (or “spinasie”)– and is mostly sold in bunches or as a processed product in supermarkets.
